University of North Texas FAQ

What is UNT Crowdfunding?

UNT crowdfunding is a way for you to directly support projects intended to enhance the UNT educational experience, create access to student resources and meet immediate university needs.

What is Scalefunder?

Scalefunder is a platform for digital fundraising that utilizes the combined power of social networks and peer-to-peer fundraising. The Scalefunder platform is powered by Ruffalo Noel Levitz — a technology-enabled solutions and services provider for fundraising in the higher education and nonprofit communities.

How will people learn about these projects?

Crowdfunding relies on personal networking in a peer-to-peer style of solicitation rather than a direct solicitation from UNT. Use your personal networks, Facebook pages, Twitter feeds, LinkedIn groups, etc. to share your donation and encourage others to join you in giving.

Does UNT Crowdfunding charge any fees, like Kickstarter or GoFundMe?

UNT does not charge any fees on your charitable donation. This means that 100% of your gift supports the project.

Are gifts tax deductible?

Your UNT charitable contributions are eligible for tax deduction. You will receive an email receipt confirming your gift to use for tax purposes. We encourage you to discuss your charitable giving with your tax advisor.

Can I contribute anonymously?

Yes. If you prefer not to have your name listed as a donor, simply opt to not display your donor name upon checkout.

Can anyone support the projects listed on this site?

Yes! You do not have to be a student or alumnus to support UNT students!
