iGEM Crowdfunding
The iGEM is a non-profit organization consisting of a network of over 40,000 international members focused on the advancement of synthetic biology through outreach and their annual science competition. Every year, iGEM teams from across the globe follow design-build-test-learn engineering methodologies to develop solutions to grand global issues using synthetic biology tools. Teams consisting of multidisciplinary STEM students dedicate several months — typically over the summer — to laboratory research and present their results at the annual iGEM Jamboree competition held in Paris, France during the fall semester.
This year, the UNT iGEM team is focused on greenhouse gas mitigation, and previous teams have co-authored scientific publications and successfully applied to graduate and professional programs after graduation.
Funds for this project provide support to the UNT iGEM team to conduct undergraduate research, scientific outreach opportunities and travel to Paris for competition.
