Where Access Becomes Art

Today’s music and media creation happen at the intersection of creativity and technology. At the Soundbox Music Makerspace in the UNT Music Library, students gain hands‑on access to professional‑grade tools that empower experimentation, collaboration and discovery — tools that are otherwise out of reach for many students. Tools like synthesizers, digital audio workstations, specialized laptops and high-quality recording kits support everyone from podcasters to voice actors, from broadcast students to traditional musicians.

Access can be the difference between potential and performance. Your support creates greater opportunities for UNT students to create, learn and thrive.

Professional music and creative audio technology is expensive. Without the Soundbox, students who lack sufficient resources face limitations in their ability to experiment, complete projects or build portfolios aligned with the demanding standards of the modern sound and media landscape.

Why Support Is Needed Now

Music and audio technology evolves rapidly. To serve students well, the Soundbox must remain current and compatible with industry-leading tools used across UNT’s College of Music and beyond.

UNT students have been pushing the limits for generations when it comes to music and creative audio production, but they depend on resources that match their unparalleled drive and talent. When essential software upgrades and equipment updates fall behind, it hinders our students’ learning and expression. It creates challenges for students transferring work between College of Music labs and Soundbox systems. And it can reduce the hands-on experiences that are so vital for students entering the global creative economy.

That’s where you come in.

Your gift helps:

  • Update and expand available tools and services
  • Maintain parity with academic labs
  • Protect access for students regardless of financial means
  • Equip students for successful careers in sound, song and story

Give today and help the Soundbox prepare the next generation of industry-ready creators.
